Trust us with your vinyl installation!

Vinyl installation is simpler than hardwood, laminate, carpet, or tile installation. In fact, many DIYers opt to do the project themselves. However, we still recommend trusting professionals, as they can ensure success and efficiency throughout the entire installation process.

Step 1

Preparing for installation

To prepare, you must first empty the room of furniture and any valuables. You may need to remove baseboards and moulding in advance, which is something we can discuss with you. You might also need an underlayment, which is another detail we'll discuss beforehand. Your subfloor will need to be completely clean, flat, and smooth.

Step 2

During and after installation

Depending on the type of vinyl you've chosen, this process will vary. Vinyl can be self-stick or glue-down, the latter taking more time. You'll need to have someone who is at least 18 years old home to greet the installation team and show them to the work area. Be sure to keep children and pets away from the work area until the job is finished! Afterwards, you'll want to establish proper ventilation, especially if you're sensitive to the smell of chemicals.

Step 3

Care & maintenance

Once your vinyl is installed, you'll need to establish a care routine to keep it looking and performing well. While vinyl is both waterproof and scratch-resistant, it isn't indestructible and you'll want to follow a few simple maintenance tips to get the most out of your new flooring.

Vinyl Care & Maintenance

Keep your vinyl floors looking clean and performing their best with simple, everyday care. From regular cleaning to handling spills, a few easy steps help maintain durability, appearance, and long-lasting performance.

Everyday care

Keep your vinyl floors clean by sweeping or dust mopping regularly. Use approved vacuums and place mats or pads under furniture to prevent scratches and everyday wear.

Handle spills

Wipe spills promptly with a clean cloth, even though vinyl is waterproof. Quick cleaning helps maintain appearance and prevents buildup from everyday messes.

Protect high-traffic areas

Protect your floors by using doormats and furniture pads in high-traffic areas. Simple preventative care helps preserve durability and keeps your vinyl looking new.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does luxury vinyl need to be acclimated before installation?

Yes! Be sure to obtain your product at least 48 hours before installation and leave it in the room in which it will be installed. This will allow the planks or tiles to acclimate to your room's climate. Once installed, luxury vinyl will not expand or contract from moisture.

Can I use a wet mop on my vinyl flooring?

Yes! Unlike genuine hardwood, vinyl flooring is waterproof and will stand up to just about anything. Just be sure to dry your floors right away, as wet vinyl is extremely slippery.

What's the difference between vinyl and linoleum?

Linoleum is actually a type of resilient flooring, but it's fallen out of fashion. Modern luxury vinyl floors have advanced far past traditional linoleum in terms of style and performance capability.

Can I install vinyl flooring over my existing floor?

Yes! New vinyl flooring can float over existing tile and other flooring solutions, provided that the surface is secure and smooth. You may need to level the tile with a special compound first.
